Due to the ever increasing environmental and political issue that is carbon dioxide; great interest in the utilizing of this potential carbon feedstock is of interest. Current focus lays in the utilization of carbon dioxide for the generation of higher alcohols and also potential generation of synthesis gas (a very popular platform for bulk chemical synthesis) through reforming with methane. Other potential processes may look at using carbon dioxide as a co-feed in a variety of different reactions (for example as a route to improve olefin yields in cracking).
