Nano-structured Catalysts for Direct Selective Oxidation of Methane and Light Hydrocarbons to Oxygenates

Materials and nanotechnology

Project Description

In an age where many of the items used on a daily basis are produced from polymers, a need to improve the processes currently employed are considered a primary goal. Polymerization catalysts will be designed and developed which promote better chain growth control. The interaction of the monomer units may be examined by a number of complimentary techniques such as; in-situ Laser Raman spectroscopy, high resolution NMR spectroscopy and MS-MS. Through this the polymerization mechanism will be studied and optimization of the process parameters will be achieved.
